Overview

The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is a key executive leadership role within Spark Dental Management, overseeing dental services and oral health programs. The CCO plays a crucial role in shaping the dental strategy, ensuring high-quality patient care, and fostering collaboration between dental professionals and other healthcare stakeholders. This position requires a strong background in dentistry, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Work with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and implement a comprehensive dental strategy aligned with the overall organizational goals.
  • Evaluate current dental programs and services, identifying areas for clinical improvement and growth.
  • Collaborate with other executives to integrate dental services with overall healthcare initiatives.

Clinical Oversight

  • Provide leadership and guidance to dental professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Establish and enforce clinical protocols, standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to dental services.
  • Ensure that all clinical decision-making complies with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to mitigate risks and address issues promptly.

Team Leadership

  • Participate in recruiting, training, and mentoring dental staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for dental professionals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the dental department budget, ensuring financial sustainability and efficiency.
  • Manage and periodically update the dental supply formulary.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue generation and cost containment.

Community Engagement

  • Represent the organization in dental and oral health forums and engage with the community.
  • Build partnerships with dental professionals, educational institutions, and community organizations.
  • Promote oral health education and awareness initiatives.

Technology Integration

  • Stay updated on technological advancements in dentistry and integrate relevant technologies into dental services.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to implement and optimize dental information systems.

Risk Management

  • Identify and address potential risks related to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and legal matters.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
  • Active state dental license (preferably in PA, DE, IN, NJ, TN or VA).
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a dental or healthcare organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Financial acumen and budget management experience considered a plus.
